Favourite brunch spot!: I live in the neighbourhood and visit Figs a couple times a week. This is the kind of place that turns an area into a community. The owner is amazing, sweet and accommodating, and she treats both her regulars and new visitors like gold. (For the people who complained about terrible service, does this happen a lot? Do you frequently have terrible dining experience? Perhaps it's just you.)

The food is very good and at a great price. The eggs benny are some of the best I've ever had. Their delicious homemade hollandaise sauce is unbeatable! The pancakes are always sweet and fluffy, served with fresh fruit. Sometimes I even get a new exotic fruit that I've never tried! It really shows the owner cares about the quality of her food. For what they charge, they can't get TOO fancy but I really enjoy when they do :)

For lunch, I usually can't resist a homemade hamburger w/ bacon and REAL cheddar cheese, served w/ a side of fresh cut fries and gravy.

I'm not a big fan of soup, but last week the owner gave me a bowl of delicious spicy sausage, kale and potato soup! New items like this on the menu keep Figs interesting. I'm always very satisfied when I go there.

If Corktown is going to grow into an increasingly desirable place to live, places like Figs are imperative. Love this place!

Best breakfast in toronto!: I love this place! It is honestly the perfect brunch spot in the entire city. The food is simple and delicious. Nothing too fancy... but everything is made very well.

My absolute favourite thing to order on this menu is the salmon eggs benedicts. It's honestly to die for! The salmon is always fresh and tasty, the hollandaise sauce is perfectly creamy with a touch of lemon flavour, the eggs are cooked just right and the homefries on the side are deeelicious. Dill and capers are added to make this dish even more heavenly.

The steak is also really good for a breakfast restaurant! Usually I'm afraid to order steak anywhere other than a steak house, but I'm told that Figs has steaks straight from the butcher. The price is very reasonable. Today I had an 8oz steak with 2 eggs, a small spinach salad, side of hashbrowns and an order of dark rye toast for $11. HELLO! That's almost what ppl spend at McDonalds or Subway for fake meat.

I am definitely a fan and have told all my friends!

The owner is a perfectionist. It definitely shows in both the food and the service. She treats her regular customers (like me) very well and I appreciate that.

Great Experience: I have always had really great meals at Figs. The food is made fresh and you can tell. I usually get the BLT salad or a Chkn baguette. I RARELY eat chicken in restaurants, especially a lunch place because they usually use that processed chicken or from frozen and it always has a freezer taste! I hate that. I have even experienced that at nice italian restaurants, but never here!

The owner is a lovely Greek woman who works there every single day. You can tell she puts a lot of care into her business and pays attention to detail!

One time our server was actually doing a terrible job, but the owner came over with homemade rice pudding and apologized!!! The restaurant was very busy and it's usually a decent excuse for bad service, but in this case the server was just a moron.

The owner added whipped cream and fresh berries... not to mention the rice pudding already had saffron inside. She was really concerned that we were having bad service and did her best to make up for it. I really appreciate that extra effort! Especially when you can see how busy the place is.

It's now become a cozy place where I love going to enjoy real food! The food is simple but always very good. Compared to other places in Toronto, it's definitely my favourite for breakfast.

Looks great- but will never go back again...: If you eat here, the server (often cook) is the sole owner. A friend of mine worked here, and this woman claims to split the tips (which would be between herself and a server), 70/30. This woman won't show the sales for a shift to the servers, and after working in many restaurants over the past ten years and knowing a busy versus a 'dead' shift, my friend would come home after a shift of selling at least $500 at Figs with $30 from this "tipout". The other day, one table tipped her $20, and she went home with $30 total for the shift- after having served at least 20 other tables (who did NOT tip her 50 cents each; much more in fact). As a server, you are allowed to collect the cash, run debits and credits, thus you may SEE the tips and do a mental calculation- however you are to put your tips in a jar, (the monetary ones. Not the credit/debit ones), which the owner 'splits', doesn't include the debits/credit, and lets you walk home with a pathetic amount of money. What this woman is doing is illegal; there is a reason servers are paid less than minimum wage. It is because they are to make it up in tips. Having an owner who is clearly breaking the law, profiting off of a law that was made to benefit owners but not in THIS WAY, and having customers believe she is serving out of the interest of her business is absolutely awful. This constitutes fraud, and I would recommend if you ever go to this restaurant, make sure to either sneak your tip to your server, or do NOT tip if it is the owner serving by herself. People like this should never be allowed to own a business, especially when the serving industry is designed to help both honest owners and servers trying to pay their bills. As a side note, this woman was cooking in the kitchen the other day without a hairnet- she has long, dark hair, and a customer sitting near me found one in his eggs. If not for the fraud aspect, I would never eat here due to the lack of hygeine in the kitchen. It is at Pariament and Queen St., on the North West corner. I have been in once, and the above is my experience, plus what I have heard about it. This woman has owned more than one restaurant in this city, and once this place shuts down (as I've now made it my mission it will), I will make sure to review any other restaurant just as fairly as this one the next time I sit at a restaurant and see her working there
