not concerned with pet's well-being: I don't know what the motivation is for their decisions at this clinic, but I was highly disappointed to find out how quickly they'll prescribe medication for something that I'm sure could have been fixed with a modification to diet. They gave me a REALLY hard time about my cat having weight issues, but I told them that my previous vet said yes, she's on the heavy side, but it's something we would keep an eye on and try to feed her less. Here the doctor tried to prescribe medication to fix it and I said no, and left.

my cat: I adopted a cat that was found to have a severe crystals and was in a lot of pain. I had to take her in to Dr Shelby and the staff at Mcknight 24 hour clinic. I didn't want to leave her but I knew that was the best thing because they had to give her medications and watch her. They were so caring and kind to me that you could tell they were all true animal lovers. It took some time but now I have her back home and she is back to old self - purring and sitting on my lap. thank you so much to all of you at Mcknight 24 hr for all of your hard work, even though she just came into my home she is the best cat ever.

Incompetent doctors: This is about my female Syrian Hamster that I took to the Calgary North Veterinary Clinic. I was not pleased with the vet’s decision on the medication (later I found out that it is highly toxic to small animals) that was prescribed, it ended up being fatal. She died within the week of taking this medicine. Before I gave her this medicine I asked the vet is it safe to give a little hamster and they said “yes it is, and I prescribe it all the time”. Also I was not given any information sheet about this drug or to watch out for specific side effects. Also they sold me expired food product, when I called them to confirm that it was expired, their response was “we’ll give you your money back”. I took her to another vet for help, but it was too late. I will miss my hamster dearly. Calgary North is about money first, then your pet secondly. I would not recommend this clinic.

Nightmare.: If I can put a negative score, I definitely would. We used to visit another doctor but he was not available. So we brought our dog to this "hospital", which is close to home, for anal gland cleaning. There's a bump at his end and causing constipation. Usually it's just a quick process that the doctor would clean it manually. But this "hospital" (Dr. Goulding) did an enemas treatment for our dog. We are not sure what happened or how they performed the treatment, but when we went to pay and got our dog back, we noticed he's not feeling/looking good. He was throwing up a little bit. His back is kind of humpbacked and didn't want to put any strength at his rear leg. We were told it's the outcome of the treatment and the issues would be gone in few days. So we brought him home and noticed that he didn't want to eat or drink at all. We observed him all night (I got up in the middle of the night and noticed that he was limping around the room and didn't want to sleep, so I gave him some fresh water and he drank some and then kinda trying to take some rest)...Throughout the next morning, he was lying on the floor all the time and his body was shaking. So we gave him a blanket to cover. He was just lying there for the whole day. Later in the afternoon, his condition became worse and breathing was quite fast. At one point we decided to rush him back to the same "hospital" and when we got there, an attending doctor took him in and few minutes later he came back out saying he tried to revive our dog but was not successful. Our dog was gone. The doctor said it could because of the enemas treatment causing him to have a heart attack/blood clot (the sign that he was limping). I couldn't remember how we argued back (or not argued back because of the extreme sadness), but that's about the end of the story. Basically we brought our dog to there to have it killed by the doctor performing the treatment.
