Very fresh: The sandwiches at California Sandwiches are prepared perfectly. They are fresh, delicious and huge. It's a great place to sit and chat over a warm, tasty meal.

Beats the pants off subway!: This is the underdog of the fast sandwich world. In my opinion its way better. The have nice warm toasted bread with a huge array of toppings and they toast it again for you after its made. Seems way fresher than subway.

Yummy!: I can see why California Sandwiches on Claremont St is so popular! It is the original location and the yummiest veal sandwich in town. Been going there for years!

Keepin it veal.: Of the sandwich trifecta in this area this is where you get the veal. That's kind of the bottom line here. If you want a veal sandwich in little Italy you go to California. It's a tiny bit out of the touristy part of the neighbourhood but that adds to its charm.

California Sandwiches has locations all over the GTA (all still family-member owned), but downtowners have access to the original location at 244 Claremont, open since 1967. Some locations serve sides, but basically it's just about the sandwich. It's a straight pick your meat, pick your heat (sweet, medium, hot) deal.
