Poor service - rude manager: Today I went with my husband and 18 year old daughter to the matinee of the final Harry Potter. Halfway through the movie it came to the end of the reel and the film stopped, rather than have a seemless transition to the next reel. We sat for 2-3 minutes waiting for the reel to be changed. Now, this isn't the first time this has happened at this theatre but the final HP is not just any movie and with the emotional appeal that the final HP film has and certainly had with the movie goers this afternoon, I would think that they would make a better effort to make our movie-going experience a positive one. My family and I were not the only ones to be disgruntled by the disruption - complaints could be heard all over the theatre. After the movie I went up to the manager and politely tried to express my disappointment in the pause in the movie. His response was (insert the rude tone here) "I can't help it if the film breaks." Now, I may not own a theatre, but I did volunteer at the theatre in Sidney (which by the way is an excellent example of what a small town theatre should be) and I know enough to recognize what a broken film looks like and what the end of the film reel looks like. The end of a reel has numbers and letters on it that show up on the screen - exactly what we saw. So I responded with "That didn't look like any broken film I've ever seen." His reply (again insert very rude tone) "Then don't come back" So we won't. All it would have taken was "I'm sorry. We will be careful not to let that happen again." and I would have been happy. Instead he has lost our business. I would rather drive to Nanaimo or Victoria and pay a higher ticket price than give my money to someone who would be so unresponsive and impolite to his patrons. I hope the manager (I won't write gentleman here - he is no gentleman) sees this review and perhaps he will remember the words of Bill Gates "Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning." and next time he will listen rather than be rude and anger his customers. He will never again have a dollar from me nor from my husband nor my daughter.
