Rustic, family-friendly Italian wine bar with a tempting Roman-inspired menu by noted chef Rocco Agostino. House-made pastas—pappardelle with braised rabbit and duck liver ravioli— form a large part of the menu, but there are also such options as braised oxtail with polenta, all made just the way Nonna likes it. "So hopping you'd think you were in Manhattan", this "slightly out-of-the-way" Dundas Wester attracts "hip" crowds with "perfectly executed" "authentic" Italian plates, an "amazing assortment" of wine by the glass and "friendly, knowledgeable" servers; "warm", "unpretentious" environs featuring a cheese cave complete the picture.

Enoteca Sociale offers precious little to be critical of as everything seems to be clicking here like the beads on Nonna's rosary during a prayer service. The proprietors have managed to pull off that most rare of atmospheres: a neighbourhood joint that you'll cross town for.I've mentioned before that sometimes the map is the territory. And you're in for a treat if you get your passport stamped...
