Absolutely CONCUR with "ALLISON"!: Agree totally with poster "Allison", truly wish I had read your posting (and had YOUR HINDSIGHT) BEFORE this guilt-ridden experience!
My dog was inexplicably traumatized with her stay at Hazelmere.
Done ALL correctly to ensure my dog would be taken care of.
Despite bringing her in the year before to meet staff and see place (with exceptional references, utd medical records, her history, feed schedule, etc.) and upon 4 day advance reservation call to book boarding & mgr. repeated board cost, thought 'no problem' here.
(Also, on designated day, no problem dropping my dog off with her possessions and food to the mgr. & staff)
How wrong I was! My large once-rescued dog is very laid back, full of taught tricks, dog/cat social. Much like my previous Boxers and Labs temperament!
Upon p.u. was told she was no longer welcome there because staff were young and not experienced enough because she was "too hyper"! I deduced they were AFRAID of her coz she RAN OUT UNATTENDED & NO COLLARS ON (she had 2, 1 with ID tags) from the back room in the entry area (could have easily ran out onto street if door was open)! They just released her from back cage/kennel I presume unescorted!!!
I also presume she was left in kennel not even exercised.
- Plus told boarding costs were near double of what was quoted prior!
My dog came home noticeably fearful, out of sorts (sullen, staring blankly, not playful, listless), would not open screen door to come in house which she routinely + casually do, nor willingly walk thru gate to go into yard.
Hazelmere is inconsistent with boarding costs quoted & DEFINITELY dog breed discriminatory. with misconception.
They seem to cater to smaller breed dogs and 'some' known larger breeds.
Would never ever recommend this inexperience, unprofessional boarding kennel.

Camrose Kennels in Surrey is superb, the staff, owners (Simon & Terry") are terrific. No problem whatsoever with her multiple stays at this truly "ALL dog-friendly" establishment!
So confident when I board her there, she comes home "safe & happy".

My dog loves it there, but, they were booked solid, so unfortunately this 1 overnight stay was at further away Hazelmere. What an unpleasant and disheartening mistake.

Amazing Kennel!: The only kennel i will bring my dogs too, I have been using them for years. The staff are well trained and the style of kennel is amazing, lots of room for my dogs to run around when they go out to the field and when there back in their runs they have indoor outdoor access all day. The free day visit allows your dog can try the kennel out before boarding making him more comfortable when you go away. Recommend Hazelmere Kennels 100%

Excellent Service! No complaints!: I have been boarding with Hazelmere Kennels since 2008 and I would never go any where else. All the staff are very attentive with the dogs, they provide individual care and attention. I am always greeted at the door and they remember by two little dogs by name! I always give Hazelmere Kennels and the staff 5 stars! Keep up the great work!

Shoddy, disorganized service: After two very different conversations with two different employees, I decided not to kennel my dogs here. I was quote two quite different prices - one of which was not a "firm" quote but was 1/2 of the second price quoted. In my first conversation I was told I could drop in at any time to view the kennel. In the second conversation it was added that the dogs would be required to come in "to prove they aren't pit bull type dogs as we don't allow those" (a policy I don't particularly approve of); upon being challenged on this the story changed to "we have to evaluate the personality of your dog and give the dog a chance to be familiar with the kennel", which is fair but very different from the first reason. Either way, good thing I didn't find that out after driving all the way out there, only to find that I'd have to return. I pointed this out and was made to feel unreasonable for bringing it up. I requested that the 2nd person confirm the pricing and call me back (since it was so different from the first price); she took my name and number but several days have passed and I haven't heard anything. I'm left with the impression that they are either incompetent, or that they don't want my business because I complained about the inconsistency of the information they gave me, or perhaps because they don't like mutts. If they can't handle these simple communications issues, I don't feel comfortable entrusting them with my dog. I also don't want to support a business that categorically discriminates against several breeds of dog - they wanted to evaluate the personalities of my non-pit bull dogs, but they have a policy of turning away all pit bull type dogs regardless of whether they are well-behaved and well-socialized? That makes no sense to me.
