Horrible people: I just had a horrible five minutes in a bridal shop, Jennifer's Bridal in Vancouver.

I got off work on a few blocks away and decided to stroll down to see the shop and see if I could make an appointment to come in.

When I found the place, there were signs all over advertising their sale. Okay. Anyway, I rang the bell to be let in. The lady that answered the door looked at me, annoyed. I was about to start explaining that I just wanted to make an appointment when she cut me off and told me if I wanted to see the sale, I could do so, but I wasn't allowed to try on dresses without an appointment. That was fine with me since I wanted to make an appointment anyway. I might as well get a preview of the goods. I explained to her that I will most definitely make an appointment when if I wanted to try something on.

She explains to me where the different sizes are on which racks. As I'm about to browse through, she then comes up to me and starts drilling me:

-When is the wedding date?

-What colour do you want?

-What style do you want?

-What features do you want?

-etc

I answer them, but I feel like i'm taking a test of some sort in grade school. I explain that I'm looking for a slim cut without too much lace but I'm open for anything. She pulls out about three and then says there's nothing else in the store that will work for my criteria. (I didn't realize I was being so picky?)(Plus the website advertises they have over 400 dresses,...) I'm left to pick through the dresses again and find two that are nice. Mostly, I'm underwhelmed by the selection which is more of the same dress over and over again.

I find one dress that's cute and flowy. I pull it out. The salesladys comes up to me and says, "You don't want that. That's a destination dress." (How does she know I'm not going on a destination?) I tell her I'm just looking for a lighter evening dress for dancing and this works just fine. She then points me to her bridesmaid dresses and says I should get that instead and they can make it in white, but I shouldn't get the destination dress. She walks away and I'm still pondering over the flowy one. In the end, I decide I'd like to try it on and see if it's just as nice as some others I've seen.

Anyway, she's helping another bride-to-be so I don't interrupt but instead wait for the saleslady to finish helping the other girl. When she does, I tell her I'd like to make a quick appointment to try on two dresses. She writes me in for five o'clock and then asks me which dresses I liked. I show her two.

She then tells me that I'm far too large (even though I'm wearing normally a size 2/4 and was wearing a giant black coat) to fit their size 6 and 8. I can go to size 10 and if I need larger, they'll have to order it in. Gee... thanks. She also tells me that I may not be able to afford it at full price since at $299, it's quite expensive...

As I'm heading out the door, she then asks me that I better not try on any dresses I'm not sure about. Because she doesn't want me dirtying up or ripping their samples for other customers! Okay... And then she actually closes the door on my face!

Anyway, my appointment tomorrow, I'm going to call first thing in the morning and cancel. I do not want to give their store any of my business.
