only night out in big white: Ten fellows in our fifties and sixties with at least two gourmet cooks and a number of gourmands enjoyed a wonderful week skiing Big White, soaking in the hot tubs and cooking great meals in the two condos we'd booked. To finish the week off we decided to relieve the chefs who'd wowed us with Prime Rib,Roast Turkey,Filet Mignon,Fettucini Alfredo etc. etc. and booked a table at The Self renowned Kettle Valley Steakhouse. What a major disappointment!the wines were great but the only food that anyone enjoyed was ironically the vegetarian dinner. The Caesar salad was one of the worst I've ever tasted-or should I say not tasted as there didn"t seem to be any garlic or anchovies and the plate made of radichio contributed nothing. If we hadn"t waited over an hour for the medium rare prime rib and sirloin we would have immediately sent it back. The prime rib had been (and I shudder to describe it) browned on both sides ,possibly to warm it,which only helped to make it too tough to eat.The vegetables were uncooked. The baked potatoe was good enough to stave off starvation and helped to slow down the effects of the many glasses of wine required to pass the time between the taking of the order and the bill.Altogether the meal cost as much as the whole weeks groceries and wasn't a tenth as good as our lunch at Snowshoe Sam's.
