It's a sit-down bakery and lovely daytime spot for fine quiches, cheesy sandwiches like a fine croque monsieur, and a wealth of lovely pastries. The owner is from the Basque region, so also expect a wicked gateaux Basque, which is a buttery, custard tart infused with anise. The namesake dish is a kind of Gallic French toast baked with cream and topped with fruit.

Pain Perdu is small and quiet, adorned with flowers and French music and neat, unimpressive furniture. Regulars sit happily alone in a corner, or quietly chat in French with Yannick, one of the bakery owners.
