A piece of home...: Visited this place several times and loved it every time. The food is delicious - real home cuisine. Staff/owners are very nice and friendly. Price / quality ratio excellent, ambiance cozy. Try the local bear from TchequeBec.

The Prague experience in Montreal: This small restaurant is located on Cote Des Neiges Blvd in the north west section of the city, surrounded by fallafel and pizza joints. It's a little out of the tourist area, but well worth seeking out. Presided over by the amiable Rene Kalvas, his family, and good friend Micha Lash, this place has food that brought me back to Prague without having to get on a plane. The dining room is small but comfortable, warm colors and decor give the space a distinctly "middle-European" feel. Start with a "pils" while checking out the menu-there's imported Czech and European lagers on tap, but I recommend the local micro-brewed offering, it's as close to a real Czech pilsner as I've had outside the Czech Republic. Make sure you have soup, I was happy that, though not on the menu, they had "drstkova", my favorite soup in the world-tripe in a thick savory, peppery broth. Outstanding. My friend ordered the pigs knuckle entree, -a very tender, fatty and totally authentic offering. I opted for the "jager schnitzel"-pork fillet in a mushroom loaded "hunters gravy", it was delicious. (Have the dumplings instead of mashed potatoes, they're light but filling, and really sop up the wonderful sauce.) My friend and I had no room for dessert, next time I'll save some, the offerings looked great, and Rene assured us were all home-made. We choose to end our meal with cups of very good coffee and a "digestif". All in all this was an excellent dining "experience," I'm looking forward to my next visit to Montreal, I'll certainly return to Restaurant Prague. Na Zdravi!! (Cheers!!)

Merci,
