Feel like in 60s!: My colleagues from work wanted me to book a VIP room at a local Russian Restaurant. I knew a Restaurant called Retro Room that would definitely suit their taste. I am Russian but my friends are Canadian. I wanted to impress them of how Russian Restaurants can be both tasty and well decorated. After spending the evening there, they were extremely happy with my choice. They told me how tasty the food was, + the enjoyed the live Jazz band that was playing there that night. They fell in love with the old style décor that Retro Room had. "It felt like we travelled 30 years back in time during old Soviet Union regime" - one of my colleagues told me the day after. They told me to book the the table there again next week. They were very curious what other food does the restaurant offer. Unfortunately, we could not taste everything there because the portions were very big and filling. I think the Retro Room made a big impression on them, especially the decorations.

Highly recommend: Been living in Canada all my life. My dream was always to visit Russia. But every time, I could not find time or money for the expensive trip. My biggest wish was to try Russian food and get to know the culture. Because I did not get a chance to go this year, I found a Russian Restaurant that was recommended to me by my Russian friend. It is called Retro Room. It is located in the north part of Toronto right near my house. One night I finally had the time to visit it. From the outside it looked like a normal restaurant but inside, it feels completely different. The whole place is decorated into the old Soviet style theme. They had a live Jazz band playing which added a touch of elegance to the place. The smell of Russian food made my stomach wanting it even more. I ordered lamb with a salad and a shot of vodka. Not only it filled me up, but it was extremely delicious too. Even inside their Washrooms, they had newspapers from old soviet times. It was like eating a dinner at a Russian Museum. I was extremely happy with the service, prices and overall hospitality. It completely exceeded my expectations of Russian cuisine.

Very delicious Russian Cuisine: My wife and I wanted to try something different, so we picked to try Russian food. We already tasted it from our Russian neighbours and it was splendid. We found a place called Retro Room. Their website looked very "delicious" so I immediately picked up the phone and made a reservation for us that evening. After stepping into the restaurant, it felt like we travelled back in time to the retro ages (hence the name Retro Room). They had TV's playing old Russian movies but there restaurant felt very empty. After we sat down, a waiter came and we ordered Russian food and drinks. It honestly felt like we were in a history museum of old Soviet Russia. The food did not take long to arrive; it was very tasty and nicely decorated for us. The prices were a bit on an expensive side but it was definitely worth it because the portions were large and stuffed us to the fullest. We felt like we were in Russia for some time. My wife and I recommend it to anybody who wants to try something new.

Real retro: I just arrived from Moscow a couple of days ago. I was there for my summer vacation. I already started missing Russian food that my grandmother made for me every day. I googled russian food and the search came back with Retro Room's website and right away I liked their style + they had Menu you could browse which was very convenient. Feeling extremely home sick, I decided to visit them. After stepping into their restaurant, I felt like I was back at home. The smell of 'borzh' and salad 'olivie' felt like I was at my grandmothers cottage. The prices were very affordable to my taste, and the food was very delicious and was served quickly. While I was eating, there were classic Russian movies playing on the TV's. It made my dinner even more memorable. I fell in love with the place right away. I can't wait to come back net time to try new food.
