dishonest: I also bought an internet coupon for RTM and tried for weeks (I believe it was five weeks) of phone calls, voice mails, text messages, and e-mails to get a quote done. Finally I did get a reply saying they chose to ignore my home project and suggested instead that I do my best to try and get a refund for my coupon. I dunno - is it just me or does that sound like they look after each and every customer with professional customer service?

Response to reviews: This is Richard, owner of RTM Electric, just here to set a few rumors straight! We have been in business in the Edmonton area for over 10yrs, and are 100% focused on customer satisfaction.
I would just like to respond to a few of the reviews i have been reading on this site.
- With respect to the voucher deals that have been available, we do have an customer call-back policy of 24-72 hrs, BUT everytime we run one of these deals it seems that everyone that buys one, all try to call our office at the same time, therefore resulting in longer response times, and for this we apologize.
- There are never any "hidden" fees, Upon all bookings the customer is made aware that there is a standard call-out charge of $65.00 applied to all calls, whether there is a voucher involved or not. And currently our hourly rate is $85.00/per man hr. These rates are very competitive in the industry at this time. Yes you might be able to find someone cheaper, but remember "you get what you pay for".
- We are a company that is very capable of handling all the calls that come in, and have very knowledgable staff that can handle any situation.
I hope this answer any questions that any new potential customers may have, and if there are any other questions, Give me a call and i will do my best to satisfy each and every customer.
Thank you

Absolutely misleading: This company is horrible! I bought the deal that was $39 for $200 of electrician work as all I needed was a tv jack hooked up in my basement. There were no extra fees listed anywhere in fine print, on their website, or even when I asked to make sure. I bought the coupon in April 2011. I had issues contacting them immediately; I left several messages on their phone and never got a return call. I tried again recently given that the coupon is to expire April 5th.

I finally got ahold of the company when they proceeded to tell me that there is an $65 charge just to come out to the house which isn't included in the coupon price. Then also told me the electricians always work in twos and charge $85/hr so the coupon would not likely cover the amount, plus materials would be extra as well. I found this extremely misleading and discovered much too late that there are many many other exact same reviews/complaints from others who tried to redeem their coupons as well.

I filed a complaint with the BBB and encourage others to do so as well!

They are abusing groupon-like sites: We bought a coupon (on teambuy) worth 100$ of electrical labour.
When we called the company, they requested 85$ call out fee (applies everywhere within Edmonton) even though on Teambuy FAQ one of staff members specified that there is no additional service charge fees.
The whole job took electrician 8 minutes(!) to complete (it happened to be a simple light switch replacement) and then we were billed 5$ for a materials (light switch itself)

When we mentioned that in addition to 85$ fee we paid for a 100$ worth of labour and 8 minutes definitely do not cost that much and perhaps we can get at least a free switch, we were told that their rate is 100$ per half an hour and they can not give us any discounts.

The whole light switch change cost is:
19$ for coupon (100$ worth of labour) + 85$ call out fee + 5$ actual switch = 105$
If I did not use coupon, the total cost would be 190$

My conclusion: RTM electrics using groupon sites as an advertising vehicle without giving up discounted prices. They will charge regular price one way or another, will they call it call out fee or service charge fee
