Place not to go in Vancouver: Do NOT go to this place. You have been warned! What they advertise is VERY different from the actual experience in more ways than one.

I had a deluxe mani/pedi here and was very disappointed with the quality and professionalism of the staff. In other words, they didn't grasp the basic concepts of a manicure or even nail care. I emailed them the concerns I listed here after the fact and their reply was simply that they were "sorry I felt that way". They offered me a complimentary manicure but seeing as how they obviously don't know how to take care of nails, I wouldn't go back even they paid me.

My manicurist filed my nails using a seesaw motion, which an experienced manicurist should know not to do (it should be in one direction) as it weakens the nail and can cause ridges and nail splitting. She also injured the area under the nail of my middle finger and ring finger on the right hand while she was filing to the point that it was painful to type for two days.

While she was cutting my cuticles, she cut into the flesh on my middle finger on the left hand and when I let her know that it hurt, she said that was normal and due to dry cuticles. However, when it started bleeding and kept on bleeding, she said that she must have nicked me and that dry cuticles don't continue to bleed. I think at this point some sort of compensation should have been offered. Instead she and the other staffers backpedaled to the excuse that my cuticles were dry. If that were the case, the copious amounts of cuticle oil they put on there should have stopped the bleeding, but it didn't.

They also gave the excuse that they're not a medical nail service (I guess to say they can't fix my "dry" cuticles) and that they're purely for aesthetics. That makes sense, but when my manicurist painted my nails, the nail polish was dry to the point that the tips of some of my nails weren't smooth, and after the fact I even found fibers stuck in my nail that made an indent when I pulled it off of the nail polish. She didn't apply even coats to all my fingernails (some fingers are sheer and some are fully painted) and missed cleaning many spots where the nail polish had gotten on the skin around the nails, as well as missed putting polish on other parts of the nail. Msg me if you want pictures. I have done it better myself with fewer tools.

On their site under services for the deluxe mani/pedi, they say that an "Orangewood stick and file are yours to TAKE HOME!" This is false advertising as neither were offered as I left. I asked about this in my email and their reply was that they are "subject to change and variation without prior notice." Fair enough, except that I saw my manicurist throw the orangewood stick away right in front of me, and I'm assuming she threw the file away as well since it wasn't metal and so wouldn't have been able to be sterilized and re-used for the next customer. I asked in my email why they would prefer to throw something away instead of letting the customer take it away with them, and their reply was "I'm sorry you feel that way". Seeing as how this is supposedly a "green, eco-friendly" salon, that was an extremely disappointing and unsatisfactory answer.

I strongly advise you to avoid this place. They not only can't give you a decent manicure, their poor technique may even ruin your nails. And if you're hoping to support a green, eco-friendly place, look elsewhere for a place that doesn't throw away reusable materials that the customer can take home.

I felt that I gave She to Shic a good chance to defend/provide me with good reasons why their business practices are what they are through several emails, but they failed even that.

I can't say this enough. Avoid this place!
