I Love This Place: Small, friendly, jammed with the usual but also the very unusual in periodical publications, Spruceland News is a big asset to this city. I don';t understand the economics of having such a wide range of obscure magazines, even a dozen or more literary journals like Fiddlehead or the Capilano Review. A good selection for the sweet tooth and free help even for a duffus (me) trying to change a watch battery. As well, though it is now all over town, this was the first place locally that carried the superb Kicking Horse Coffees, roasted down in the Kootenay town of Invermere. For that alone, I am eternally grateful (I just wish the in-store brewed coffee, available by the cup, would be made stronger so that I'm not tempted to go to big bad Starbucks next door.

Best place for rare magazines: This store has a huge selection of magazines on a variety of topics you didn't even know existed. You can also find a selection of british candy and unique gifts.
