Much More Than Oysters: First off, we adore oysters, so this is reason numero uno for us to go. But both recent times we've restricted ourselves to having the oysters only as a starter and have partaken of the rest of the menu, and it does not disappoint!

The atmosphere of Starfish is "cozy boîte". On entering it feels like you've come in to a warm neighbourhood bar, and really you have, because the bar is action central, where all the shucking is done. But it's also a lovely simple dining room, perfectly suited to date nights.

The oysters are impeccable. There is always a selection of close to a dozen sourced mostly from the coasts of Canada & the US but with the occasional UK treat thrown in. The best way to partake is to go for the Shucker's Choice- you'll get a nice mix & they will be well explained by your knowledgeable server.

The mains that we've tried have all been excellent. Seasonal, local and very well prepared. They range from other seafood fare to offerings of a more hoof-ed variety!

Deserts are also excellent, although one minor pique is that there hadn't been any attention paid to gluten-free offerings on our last visit. Other than the ice-cream, everything had some form of wheat in it.

It can often be difficult so far from the sea to get really good seafood in Toronto- the one main exception being oysters. And in this field, Starfish is the one of the few standouts. We highly recommend you try it!

"Sit at the bar and watch" staffers "effortlessly shucking oysters" at this Downtown Core "seafood destination" where fin fans "indulge" in "some of the best" bivalves plus other "succulent" dishes in a "folksy" wood-accented setting with a "down-home atmosphere"; add in "accommodating" servers, and fans willingly overlook somewhat "pricey" tabs.
