Savoury food: Wine bar has a huge selection of wine and the food was delicious! I had a great time with my good friends and will make sure to come back with my boyfriend for an intimate evening for two. I really enjoyed sharing plates for the chance to try many different dishes!

Think Again: If you don't read anything else, read this statement: the vast majority of reviews are of the previous incarnation, when this place was Jamie Kennedy's Wine Bar. I have been three times since the changeover, and every time the experience has been worse. After the last meal (six of us, all of whom had been coming to Jamie's since the first year it opened) we all swore that was the last time we'd set foot inside - not that it is terrible now, but there are just too many other options providing a better experience for the same cost.

That's not to say it doesn't have its merits - the food remains good, with occasional great dishes. The wine list remains broad and reasonably priced (especially for the small pours, which are the same proportionate cost as a full glass so you can try a little of a lot of wines).

The menu is not quite as wide as in JKWB days, nor does it change anywhere near as often - but those were probably factors in Jamie having to sell up, so at least the new folks might stay around longer... If, and that is a BIG if, they can get their service staff organized.

The biggest issue is service - far too many new faces, and far too few of them on at any given time. We were one of three tables in use during our last meal, and still our server disappeared and left us hanging, waiting to order more food & wine.

In short, while I never had any hesitation recommending Jamie's I simply cannot in good conscience recommend The Wine Bar

Editorial Reviews

Wine Bar is the re-branded Church St. restaurant that used to be known as Jamie Kennedy's Wine Bar before financial troubles forced him to sell it. The menu, though, still places a strong emphasis on local, seasonal fare and poutine (a braised beef cheek version) remains a crowd pleaser.

His name may be all over anything organic and local, but you wouldn't be able tell from the seasonal menu that he slips you his principles through his namesake restaurant - the Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar. You'll find half of the kitchen staff in the back curing, smoking and preserving carefully picked ingredients while the chef's bar out front puts on the show. Definitely the best seats in the...
