Good food - nice people: Food was good and reasonably priced for quality. We had daily special (Veg Fritatta $7.95) choice of salad or soup. (I had the soup - carrot dill - it was delicious - fritatta was also good and filling.) Coffee was fine, coffee bar is self serve and could have used a bit of a wipe up but it was well equipped if crowded - could use a little more space there to put your cup down and add sugar, milk etc. Service was quick, but had to request water. The two young ladies working were charming, helpful and industrious (one did get over to wipe the coffee bar eventually.) We had the homemade cookies for dessert, oatmeal chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin - made with spelt flour. They were decent - certainly better than anything store bought. Debit/credit accepted but no tip option available. We had to dig around for change to leave tip. This was my third visit to this cafe in a year and the best overall. Food has always been good, but renovations have cleaned it up, and staff seems friendlier and more motivated. Total cost for our very nice lunch (including tip) was about $28.00. There's a full menu plus daily specials and a large selection of beverages (organic pop!) and desserts - I always go there when I am in Cannington and highly recommend it.

This is what community is all about: A cozy and comfortable place and reasonable prices. In fact, the coffee and food is less expensive than at the big chains, but here there is a commitment to local, fair trade, organic. I had an apple salad - it was fresh, delicious, and really big. I could hardly finish it.

Lousy service, unfriendly staff, over-priced: My husband and I went there for bunch one afternoon and we both ordered the Baked French Toast. It took over an hour to get our food!(Come on it's french toast, how much easier does it get) But before that it took at least ten minutes for someone to come to take our order. The skeleton staff that was there were too wrapped up in themselves to notice or care about their paying patrons. And this is a very small community, they should know better. Needless to say neither myself or my husband have gone back, and we never will.
