Great Food and Service: I visited The Eatery on a recommendation from a friend. This same friend has given me recommendations which lead to poor dining experiences and therefore poor reviews on Weblocal. However, this dining experience was very positive and the recommendation was well earned. The Eatery is located at the end of trendy Kitsilano. The servers dress very casual, as well as most of the patrons. The decor is very unsual, bordering strange. Not offensive in any manner, but definitely something to catch your attention. Even the dinner and drink menus have a theme of them, as it seems everything in The Eatery does. The layout is spacious for any group of individuals to be comfortable, and the dining areas are well kept and clean. The music is a bit loud but that adds to the overall experience. This restaurant is very dark, so every table is lit up by a candle. One thing to be noticed is that this is not a traditional or genuine Japanese restaurant. It is blended with Western fusion, as well as some unique and odd twists on Japanese dishes. Overall I would say that this is definitely a place to visit if you wish to try something new. Although I'm a traditionalist when it comes to ethnic cuisine, I do like to explore new things and The Eatery is a new dining experience for those who have never ventured off the path of authentic Japanese cuisine. The service is prompt, friendly and attentive. The food comes quick and is prepared from scratch. I enjoyed this so much that I ended up staying after the store was closed and chatted up the servers. Great place, great people, great food and great experience. Stop by and have a blast!

Odd in a fantastic way.: I have only been here once, and I will go back for more. I absolutely love the Eatery. And the fact that Sue Johanson eats there made my experience that much better. Such unique rolls, the decor is hilarious and really makes the place what it is. Selling underwear with miso Horny written on it is fantastic. The food is delicious and I am going back there next weekend. Love love LOVE it!

It's a strange place to find such good sushi, but cash-strapped students Jericho beach picnickers have kept it flying off the plates (and donburi bowls) for years. You can do takeout, but you'd miss the fun. From the "Miso Horny" neon sign to the manga /Astro Boy-inspired menu graphics to the toys and pop art tributes at the merch counter, the décor is all funky, no stuffy. And the food? If...
