I lived in Vancouver for 5 years, went out for sushi at least once a week, also eaten sushi in Seatt...: I lived in Vancouver for 5 years, went out for sushi at least once a week, also eaten sushi in Seattle and Los Angeles, Lighthouse holds it's own with the best of them. Exceptionally fresh sashimi, wonderful. Tempura very well done, light crispy batter, light crunch to the veggies plus three very large shrimp. I did takeout but next time will be eating at the restaurant. i just found my favorite restaurant in Lethbridge.

Good food - weird service: We usually go to Lighthouse if we're having Sushi in Lethbridge - the food is good and the decor is lovely.

Last night, however, we did our office party there, and although the food was good, it ended up being quite an unpleasant experience. We had booked a table for 20, but several peple dropped out at the last minute. Ended up there were only 10 of us. Fifteen minutes after the hour of our reservation, we told the waitress that we probably wouldn't need all three tables and would use only two - they didn't end up using the table elsewhere in the restaurant since it wasn't full, and so the table sat empty.

When we got our bills, we had been charged $50 for the empty space! We complained and after quite a bit of resistance, they did agree to take the charge off, but then added 15% onto the bill to make sure we left a good enough tip (actually, this isn't a big problem, as many restaurants do this - but it wasn't done in this case with a very light heart, if you know what I mean).

The manager also kept insisting that she wanted to talk to the person who did the booking - it was obvious she wanted to give her a piece of her mind. We almost made it out the door without another altercation, but the woman actually hustled up to the front of the restaurant and berated our friend for her poor organizational skills until we all decide to get out of there!

This has left a bad taste in my mouth, and although I have been a regular customer since the place was in its old location on Mayor McGrath (i.e., 5-6 years), I just don't think I'll be going back there soon.
