For a while, this pretty bistro was too hot to handle: It was tough to get in, and sometimes service came with an attitude. But things have lightened up, and it's now a convivial spot for fine and sometimes inventive French fare. The evolution of Harbord Street into Toronto's foremost restaurant alley is real, thanks to spots like Chef Jean-Charles Dupoire's imaginative French Bistro. Sweet and spicy frog legs and curried monkfish with cauliflower are adventurous enough to entice neighbourhood regulars, and authentic enough to please Carla Bruni and that old guy she hangs around with.
