Over rated: I have been there maybe 4 times over the past 10 years or so and each experience has been disappointing. I expect better based on the prices and the reputation. The food is nice (it's no Kellsey's) and well presented but it falls short.

My latest trip was in October of '09. I made reservations there for my boyfriend's birthday as he has wanted to try this restaurant out based on what he's heard of it. Our reservation was for 7:30, we didn't leave till close to midnight. Not because we were having a splendid time but because that's how incredibly late all of our food was. We got the apologies and a couple complementary tid-bits, but it's a good thing we didn't make any other plans after dinner! We had a tar tart and a beat salad to start off with, and while they were both good, they weren't amazing. I ordered a duck 3 ways for dinner, the duck confit was dry and not tasty at all. My bf ordered a steak done rare, but it arrived medium. The replacement steak that arrived was done to a medium but it wasn't a well cut steak and it was tough. Otherwise, the atmosphere and the front of the house staff have always been very nice.

"Everything is done very, very well" at this "truly fabulous" North Toronto "institution" where celebrity chef Mark McEwan turns out high-end "seasonal" Continental fare highlighting "interesting flavour combinations"; though a few sniff "the thrill has faded", most agree a "beautiful setting" elevated by "elegant" decor and "first-rate" service ensures "you can never go wrong choosing" it for...

The soft lighting and strategically situated mirrors wrap the dining room -- and its occupants -- in a lovely glow. Upscale regulars succumb to the seduction of a three-course meal. Celebrity chef Mark McEwan's menu, which changes with the seasons, borrows from Mediterranean, American, and Asian sources, with inspired results. On the list of main courses, you might find grilled veal tenderloin...
