Hot Place to Eat: One of the best places to eat in an area full of good eateries. Very current and flavourful menu. And different from the norm. Reasonably priced.

Excellent Food and Service: Fuel is outstanding, plain and simple. The service is top notch, comparable to the high end restaurants in the luxury hotels of Toronto or Montreal. The decor is very modern with a classy feel. Visiting Fuel you'll notice that the restaurant itself isn't that large, and it's layout is spaced in a way that people are there more for an intimate dining experience rather than something with lively entertainment. Cozy and comfortable with a sense of style is their atmosphere. Their service is top notch, I simply can not find many other restaurants in Vancouver that have this type of service. More than being attentive, the servers are professional and genuine. That is very hard to come by in Vancouver's restaurant industry. The food is well beyond description. The presentation is similar to that of a culinary competition, with a brief description of everything on the plate and how it will taste. However, the brief description is nothing comparable to how your mouth reacts to the delight of your meal. The lamb is beyond description. The rib eye is beyond words. The meals are some of the best you can find anywhere in Vancouver. At Fuel the staff are there to win customers over with their professional service, immaculate ambience and delicious meals. They have won me over, and so I will be visiting them over and over again in the future.

Instead of suffering through last year’s economic downturn, partners Tom Doughty and 2009 Vancouver magazine Chef of the Year Rob Belcham got creative. The result is a casual reincarnation of their critically acclaimed fine-dining boîte Fuel, and a much better restaurant. Stripped down and laid-back, the industry-leading interpretations of locally sourced ingredients and strong service remain....

UPDATE: 03/26/12 Reful is now closed In a room that showcases the kitchen brigade—chefs are always chopping and dicing in full view—unpretentious fine food is the ticket. Proprietor-chef Robert Belcham (he of the sturdy stature and mulitcoloured tattoos) devises and executes plates of such deceptive simplicity that he was named Vancouver magazine’s chef of the year for 2008. His specialty...
