Worst customer service ever, staff with bad attitude, we were not treated with respect: Unfortunately I have to give 1 star, if possible, I would not give any star at all, because they don't even deserve 1/10 of a star. For selections and prices, I will give an 8.5; but for their customer service, it totally off-sets their large selections and low price, I will give a -10. I will definitely not let the cheap price override and trade off my deserved-respect as a customer.

This is the second time we wanted to get tiles from Rivalda. The first time, which was about 8 months ago, we went on a Saturday afternoon and they were very busy, we couldn't get a hold of any staff but because we already knew what we wanted for our kitchen back splash, so my husband went back there again on a weekday and went straight to buy and pick up the tiles without asking for any suggestions.

We like how they have lots of selections so we went back again this time for our ensuite bathroom renovation. Saturday is the only day my husband and I can go together, so we have no choice even though we knew that they are super busy on Saturday. We went in and looked around, found something we like but no staff were available. With over 100 customers in the store they only have 3 floor staff and 4 at the front desk (2 serving customers and 2 older ladies working on the computers). We took a picture of the tiles we wanted and going to ask the staff at the front desk. While we were waiting in line, people were just butting in from the side, no system whatsoever. After waiting for about 15-20 min, finally we could show the front desk staff the picture and she asked “where did you take this picture, is this our product?” We said yes, it’s by the window in the first aisle. She then asked the guy beside her, whom I believe is the owner, and then he said this is new arrival, we do not have stock and no price yet. Then they both immediately served other customers and ignored us. I can understand if there is no stock yet but no price? Then why they put it out in the showroom?

We then looked at other similar tiles and were going to ask their staff some questions/suggestions. I saw one of their staff (long dark hair in her late 30s/early40s), standing by herself, looking at pictures on her phone, I went up and asked if she works there. She answered me with a “yes” and then flew off to the customers she was serving (I didn’t know she was helping them as she was standing by herself at that time) and ignored me. I stood there waiting for her to finish with her customers. After about 20 min, she finally finished and I thought I was next. Then a couple went up to her from another aisle and asked her for help, I told them I have been waiting for her, the staff said to me IN A BAD ATTITUDE that she did not aware I was standing there waiting for her. I said I asked her if she works there (and I thought she’d realize that I need help), she said “Yes, and I answered your questions that I do work here!” Come on! She thought I was simply just curious to know if she works there or not? Her other customers suggested perhaps she could help us first and they could wait since they just got there, but she replied saying “No, it’s ok, I didn’t see her waiting so you guys first” and then they walked away.

I went up to the front desk again and wanted to address the issue I had with that staff, there was a lady in her 50s said to me IN AN ATTITUDE LIKE I WAS BOTHERING HER, “Maam, you need to understand that in the tile business we have to finish with one customer first then go on to next. It’s a Saturday and you see we are very busy”. I told her I did wait for that staff to finish with her customers and I also suggested maybe they need to hire more staff. Again, she ignored me.

I then went to talk to the other lady whom we showed the picture to and asked her how can I get a hold of their staff. SHE SAID TO ME IN A FRUSTRATED VOICE, “What do you need help with? You have already asked me a question and I have answered you already that those are new arrivals and we do not have price and stock available!” I said I wanted to ask questions about another product, she said “OK”, but then she kept working on her own stuff and once again, I was ignored.

Was I only allowed to ask just one question? I was just so fed up with their attitude and how we were treated, we left. We went to one of their competitors, they were busy too, but as soon as we entered the showroom, we were greeted. We walked around and then a staff member came to us and acknowledged our presence and asked if we need help. We said yes, and she said “I am with a customer right now. My name is Marlene, I will be right with you as soon as I am done.” Now that’s customer service!
