No Show for our Daughters' Birthday party: Here is an e-mail we sent Tara's treats after they ruined our daughters birthday party. We did not receive a response.

Good afternoon,

I just wanted to bring some issues to your attention that I had while attempting to book an event with your company.

First, I had sent an email at least 3 weeks ago regarding booking an event and I still have yet to receive a response. So, I am actually unsure if anyone will read or respond to this one.

I eventually called and I will say the receptionist was very polite, however she assured me someone would return my call regarding my event that same day or at the latest the following day. That was on July 8th and a returned call never occurred. I gave it 3 days and then thought I would give it one last try and called once again. I left a message in the morning, did not receive a call back and then I called again late in the afternoon and finally was connected with the events coordinator who's name was Robin.

Robin was unaware of my previous messages but did book my event for this past Sunday July 14th, which was my daughters birthday party. I was open to options and originally thought I would rent a cart but she stated sending a van would be the more appropriate route to go.
After booking I did call Robin back again to request a contact number in case I needed to cancel and there was absolutely no mention about the possibility of the event being cancelled due to weather, I also left my contact information in case the driver required directions or ran into problems that day.

I along with my daughter and all our guests were very excited about the ice cream van that would be visiting as this was the dessert for the party instead of birthday cake. Unfortunately, the van did not arrive. It was scheduled for 12:45pm and by 1:10pm I called to see if there was a problem. I contacted Robin and first she said she was checking to see where the driver was, she then said they got a late start that morning, she then said that most of the drivers were not going out that day. I then questioned if someone would be coming at all, she said no and of course I asked why. She then stated in a very rude tone, "uh, because it's cold outside."

Now, I will say, it was not a hot day weather wise, however by 11am it was about 20 above and overcast....NOT raining or cold. Our party was outside and it was a pool party, by 1pm the sun had come out.....so why was there no ice cream I asked? Robin explained that the drivers were worried about it raining later. This to me is absolutely ridiculous! If an event is booked there should be someone who shows up, or at the very least calls to let customers know they are cancelling. Robin was also nice enough to point out "Ya, I guess I should have called you this morning". How that was going to help me at that particular time, I am still unsure. It also did not take away the looks of disappointment on my daughter's and our guests faces.

I am thoroughly disappointed in the service I was provided and cannot believe a company can be run this way. I also feel horrible that a bunch of kids expectations of a visit from the super awesome ice cream man were crushed.

Please don't think I am writing this email with an expectation of free ice cream or something like that. A sincere apology and a good hard look and re-examination of how events are handled within your company would suffice. It may also help to look for staff that show strong qualities like responsibility and reliability. Remind them that their actions....or in this case, lack there of......have consequences and when ice cream is your business, chances are those consequences are going to be disappointed children.
