Do not support this disgusting behavior: I come from a time when Terry ran this once thrifty little shop. He was a wonderful person always willing to help his customers, and the store was thriving. However the people in charge now have created a horrible atmosphere of over priced clothing, unhappy employees, and a whole lot of judgement. This store is disgustingly rude to anyone who does not have a high status in the little town of Gimli. They behave as though they are better than everyone in the small town. I have witnessed this terrible treatment on several occasions. The first incident; when I was shopping with a girl friend who's 3 year old desperately needed the "potty". When my friend asked for a washroom they were told them to leave the store. The little girl had an accident on the way out and instead of helping or apologizing they handed my friend a garbage bag to tie around the child's waist and a piece of paper towel to wipe the floor. I couldn't believe there treatment towards a customer, and a small child. Of course this is the same store who posted a sign on it's door stating "no temper tantrums" making it more than clear that they would prefer families with young children to stay away. Another incident happened to one of the most honest individuals I know. This woman had picked up a sweater off a clothing rack to try on. She set this sweater down on a sale rack at the back of the shop and picked up a different item for purchase as she found a much better deal. She forgot about the sweater she had set down. She was accused the next day of stealing the sweater that I myself had witnessed her set down on the sale rack, all because they found an empty hanger. Or was it because she was a single mother on welfare??? They didn't bother to look around for the garment before slandering my friends good name. We later found out through an employee that had quit, the sweater was located but not before my friend was devastated by an unimaginable accusation. The employee we spoke with assured us this sort of accusation and treatment happens to local customers on a regular basis. She was also never officially told and never received an apology for her treatment. The third incident which is what has led me to tell all about the disgusting little antics of this store has to do with a simple donation. A friend of mine was in charge of finding local donations for a gimli gift basket to raise money for a wonderful cause. This friend of mine had typed out very humble and professional letters requesting any donations possible. Tergesens phoned my friend back 3 weeks later to tell her they had decided to donate. Well this friend went to pick up this said donation to find 2 extremely damaged un-useable items placed in a grocery bag. The store wouldn't even donate one of their nice reusable tergeson bags that they have specially made. This is probably because they didn't want to be associated with the disgusting joke of a donation. This store loves to give the illusion it is run by humanitarians, after all they carry TOMS shoes right? Well when it comes down to actually giving they behave in the most disgraceful manner imaginable. If the store had found they were unable to donate it would've been more than understandable and a phone call or a kind letter would've been sufficient and simply more appropriate than the joke they played on my friend. These people look down upon anyone entering there store with children and make snap judgments towards townspeople who do not make a lot of money. This is because they would much rather cater to the hipsters and tourists. Disgraceful. If that wasn't enough their prices are hiked up more than 50%. The items they sell of name brands such as billibong, and roxy can be found at an average of 20 to 50 dollars cheaper on websites and in surrounding shopping areas such as Winnipeg. Please next time you're in Gimli save your money and avoid supporting a shop that behaves this way towards good hard working customers.
