Re Never Again: Top Dog Daycare and Spa has been in business successfully for 6 years. We attribute this success to being well educated and informed in all aspects of dog care. We attend regular seminars in up-to-date methods of dog training and behavioural studies.
The incident Carole andrews writes about is false allegation and we refuse to accept being referred to as heavy handed or abusive. Their dog had attended our facility for 8 months on a full time basis, we often offered training and support during that time as the dog often presented undesireable behaviours to them. The incident she is referring to but was not witness to ( she's speaking for her husband), was that the dog was being ushered away from the facility for a time-out (usually a 30 sec. preiod)as he was jumping and biting at staff in the facility. There was no "dangling"! This is a very humane, soft and clear msg to communicate to a dog. Your behaviour is unacceptable, you lose play-time as a reult. Then try again to achieve desired results.
After speaking with the vet clinic, I am informed the vet did NOT report this as an incident agaisnt Top Dog. She reccomended Carol to speak with us, and offered to refer her to an animal behaviourist. None of which has been done.
It should also be noted that Carole Andrews and her husband walked away from a tab we allowed them to carry on a regular basis for $366.

Never Again!: We have just taken our dog out of this facility after approx. 6 months of what we thought was a good dog day care. We happened to catch one of the people/owners picking up our dog off the floor (all 4 legs) by the collar because he wouldn't listen to stay down. Our dog is 25kg and he was marched all the way across the facility while dangling in the air. This is totally unacceptable. We took him to the vet the very next morning as he didn't eat his dinner and she has now reported this incident. How many times does that happen that we don't see? The vet said that major damage could have been done by this and in fact dogs have gone blind and even killed by this OLD way of training. It is just not done any more. I will never recommend this place which is really too bad as I totally liked and trusted them.
